Dcember 6, 2010

I know it has been a very long time since I have posted anything. My health has prohibitaed me from doing a whole lot but I have finished a couple of things, Have 1 quilt ready to go on the frame to be quilted and the Black & White & Red all over is almost ready to go on as well.
The first picture is for my neice for christmas. I took a class on how to do a dresdin palte using pre-made bias bindiing strips.
The second picture is a challenge quilt. I bought a bag with fabric in it for $5 and had to make something using that fabric. The fabric I got was the plowed fields in the middle. I had to add a house, path, bird bath, bird and another animal. It will go up to be judged at a ocal quilt store by my peers. I am not satisfied with the quilting. I think my machine is about to bite the dust. I used invisable thread for the quilt itself and matching thread for the border. I still need to put a binding of some kind on it to make it a total of 28 inches. I may use the same fabric as the border. I really haven't decided yet
I am going to be teaching a class at the same quilt store on half square and quarter square triangls in Jan.
Mike is on vacation next week and we are going to be painting our house. I will post before and after pictures when it is finished. Then in Jan. were are going on vacation to vegas for a few days.
Hopefully I will get more accomplished in the New Year.

Sept 29, 2010

It is another drab, dreary day on the Treasure Coast. The good thing is that the tropical depression did not develope into anything other than that. We are to get rain for the rest of this week and next. But we so badly need the rain.

I have been playing around with my new sewing machine today and finally figured out the the problems I was having was because I didn't have the bobbin in al the way.

This is a picture of my quilt "Everything but the kitchen sink". Quilted by a very dear friend Ann Fry. I am thinking of sending it to someone for christmas but I also have a couple others that I wanted to send. Just got to decided who to send each one too. I know they will be greated with open arms since the last ones that I made them is starting to fall apart fro so much love.

I have pulled the "Black and White and REd all over quilt off the back burner. excited about getting this one done. I have decided to make it a disappearing nine patch with a red, white and black backing if I can find it.

Monday, Sept. 20, 2010

I kinow it has been a while since I posted any thing. But since my last post I have really only been working om mycathedral windowsa in the evening but not every evening. I am no longer working due to health reasons.

My wonderful husband let me get a Grace Mini Pinni frame and new Juki machine. after 3 weeks it is finally up and running. Just playing around on it when my arms and hands will allow it.

The weather here on the Treasure Coast is starting to look a little bit like fall. The temps ar still in the low to mid 80's but not so humid and a great breeze blowing most of the tie. I will be so glad to be able to turn the air off within the next few weeks and opening all the windows. I love sitting out under the carport in the breeze. I did do a touch of yard work on sunday. It is all of about 4.5 feet long. That is all I could manage. But it will get there with the help of my wonderful sister helping me all I will let her.

Hope every one has a great week. Will post some pictures at the next posting.

I had my neck surgery last Tuesday and all is well. tThere is still a lot of swelling on the inside of my throat plus brusining on my chest bone and the top of my shoulders at the top of my spine. But all in all everything is going great. I really hate not being able to get in the car and go when I want to but such is life.

I am going to try to work on my Ohio project some this week. but can not do it for more then about 20 minutes at a time. Same with the computer so not back to work for a while.

Happy Fathers Day ...... The count down is on. 2 more days and I will be having my surgery. Toiday I cleaned the sewing room so that little Fred does not have any more things to scatter. I don't know where half my bobbins are because he knocked the stand over. I found the 3 that has thread on them but still haven't found the ones that were ready to wind. I'm sure they will show up some where. nest post will be after the hospital stay.

The picture on the far left is of a quilt that I made for my son and Dinlaw in 2002. The celtic picture is what I started when I was at Ann's house when I was in Ohio. I wsn't going to post it until it was finished but since I have not been able to work on it much I decided to do it anyway.

I will be going for surgery on Tuesday June 22 for my neck. Hopefully this will get rid of a lot of my upper body pain.

April 15, 2010

I have started a peacock wall hanging that at first I was going to do it as needle turn then decided to do it as fusable because there are just so many pieces. I have the back ground fabric hanging on my makeshift design wall and have some of the pieces up as well. I didn't have any fusible web so I decided to stop where I was until I got some. My sister went to joann fabrics today and picked me up some so I will be working on it some more tonight.

I have also been having some physical problems and they have discovered that I have degeneritive artheritis in my neck in every vertibra. I went to have an MRI done today to see if some sort of injections will help or if I will be making a visit to a surgeon. Please keep me in your prayers

April 11, 2010

After posting that last picture it was brought to my attention tha the one corner was backwards. So now I have to fix that.

Today my sister came over and is helping me to get all my sewing and beading and misc craft things a little more organized so that I can get my sewing area back in shape the way it should be. Right now everything is a big mess. When it is all put together and operational again I will post a picture of the finished room.

Other wise it is just another beautiful day in paradise.

sunday March 28, 2010

I haven't been doing a lot since I last posted. I had a fall at work last week and I'm still really sore from that.

I do have all the rows on my reminince quilt. just have to do the squares for the top and the bottom. then start the borders. I have also been working on a block of the month series by Linda Slone. I have the first block almost done. it is applique. she does it in fusable but since I don't like fusable applique I am doing mine in needle turn. I have the border that goes around the block done and ready to put on. I will post a picture as soon as it is ready.

March 16, 2010

This is a picture of my Reminiscence Quilt that was started who knows how many years ago. Margret has hers finished and it made me want to get mine out and work on it.

The last 3 blocks are finished and have been for some time. Now I am working on all those little sashing squares. I still have a bunch to go. I do have the top border started. I will work on it after I get all the sahsing blocks done and put on. The reason I started this block of the month back then was to learn how to be scrappy. Well it worked because now I have no problem with it.

March 14, 2010

The first quilt is from a block swap called luck of the irish. I still have to put a border on it and then it will be done. I made a couple of throw pillows with some of the blocks that were left. I don't remember what year we did this one but it was with Quilts on Review group
The second quilt was frome an Amish block swap back in 2001 with a different group. It is now ready to quilt

I have had to make a decision that just breaks my heart. I am going to have to have my beloved Ginger put to sleep because of a number of reasons.. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old and she is now 10 years old. For the last 3 years I have taken it 6 months at a time hoping for the best but knowing that it was going to happen sooner or later. since I work for a veternarian I will be able to take her in and have it done without thinking about it too long. she is old and has some medical problems but she has also gotten aggreeive toward the other pets in the house for no reason. here is a pictue of my wonderful baby Ginger. Unless I change my mind between now and tomorrow morning this will be the last picture of her. I really love my baby girl and it has beensuch a hard decison to make. She has been a wonderful baby.

I am so bad about doing updates. I have been bit by the quilting bug once again. I went through my UFO box and have completed 4 tops that I received the blocks in swap dating back to 2001.

I have also been working on my Dear Jane quilt that was also started from a swap several years ago. I have row A completed and sewed together. I am getting there just slow and easy. Little baby steps.
I will post more pictures next time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I know it is late but I have been busy. This morning at 7:00 am it was 28 degrees here in Florida.

A couple weeks ago I started to put borders on a quilt that was started several years ago. I went on EQ6 and put in my measurements and low and behold the border that is made is not big enough. I have no idea where I went wrong but I will figure out a solution and fix it.
